It's always tough knowing what you want, but not having the means at hand to get there. Though I understand the blog engine is called Wordpress and not Picture-press, I'd like my site to have an equal balance of text and images, and I have a pretty good notion of what I want it to look like. So far I haven't found many options for implementing it, though. I could post a link somewhere below that sends you to my photos, but it would just be one word amongst many, and wouldn't at all convey the sense that they represent the other half of the site. In providing a link to the photos, I'd at least like to give you a sense of what you're going to, or a way to decide from here which kinds of photos you'll see.

Optimally, a mini-gallery with various photo-album thumbnails would be permanently located on the main page next to the top post, linking to something like a collection of Simpleviewer albums, and getting the message across that this space is for words as well as pictures. Unfortunately, Simpleviewer is having trouble integrating with Wordpress 2.7, and most other image viewing interfaces don't meet my design expectations.

Another alternative would be to have a feed in the bottombar, displaying my most recently posted photos on Flickr. This poses a twofold problem: one, it requires you to navigate away from my site and into an environment that I have no aesthetic control over (and I don't find Flickr particularly appealing to look at photos on); two, I would not be able to choose which images enter the feed, and thus no way of directing you toward one type of photo or another.

A third option, which I'm currently settling for, is to have an on-site Flickr gallery using the Flickr Photo Album for Wordpress. This allows me to customize the navigation experience for the viewer (making up for some of the elements lost with Simpleviewer), but leaves me with the problem mentioned above, of not having an attractive and representative way of linking to the gallery.

If anyone has any suggestions for how to implement these ideas, please let me know.
